Tasting Notes
Spicy clove, subtle leather and bright red fruits on the nose followed by a fresh dose of raspberry on the palate and rich tannins. This wine will hold bright flavors for years to come.
Vineyard Notes
Sourced from the Circle S Vineyard in San Benito County, this Brunello clone of Sangiovese is planted in Cropley, San Benito/Series (Clay loam) soils. Vine age ranges from 10 to 15 years old.
Winemaker Notes
This is the most widely planted variety in Italy. Also THE grape of central Italy. Our job is to respect this varietal and do the best job we can at keeping this wine varietally correct. Sangiovese characteristics depend heavily on there surroundings and we aim to show you just that in every vintage and different locations we source from.

Bright red fruit, pine, fresh herbs, touch of oak and some dusty notes. Ruby/garnet, clear and clean and light in color, wine is slightly transparent. Fairly high acidity and med tannins. Med body and longer finish. Red berries, dried cherry, some floral notes, red plum/skin with a little bitterness. Not a lot of secondary flavors yet but showing signs of what I would expect to be some dried flowers and earthy/truffles to be more present in a few years. Would peg this for an Italian wine if tasting blind for sure and possibly Morellino Di Scansano from a good producer or something like Fontalloro. Doesn’t have the weight of a typical Brunello Di Montalcino but flavors and most characteristics are there since this is Grosso from California a few hours north of Paso Robles. Really impressed with this, someone looking for a typical CA wine with rich fruit I would not expect to appreciate this as much but someone who enjoys Italian wine or old world wines would really enjoy this one. I hope they continue to make this wine in this style. Glad I have more to try over the next 5-10 years. Cheers!
